UP Nicaragua was founded in 2015 with the goal to create education and mentorship opportunities for girls living in the tourist-booming city of Granada.   They work with Nicaraguan girls who are talented and have leadership potential, but lack access to the important resources that could prove beneficial to them and their community.

With Nicaragua’s history of gender inequality and the lack of effective regulatory laws, women have become the main victims of a cycle of abuse, lesser education, and fewer opportunities. The non-profit’s vision is that their students become conscious, educated, and empowered women with bright futures, able and determined to become protagonists of their own lives and communities.

Lokono has joined in their mission by selling T-Shirts, of which 25% of the profits will go directly to UP Nicaragua. Our first goal is to generate enough money to afford UP Nicaragua a laptop computer for the girls to develop computing skills and standard programs that could prove vastly beneficial in the future.
